Yme Groeneveld, M.Sc. Dutch and European Patent Attorney EP&C - Rijswijk

Yme Groeneveld studeerde Werktuigbouwkunde aan de Technische Universiteit in Delft en is vanaf 1991 in de octrooipraktijk werkzaam. Hij heeft onder meer de Senseo-zaak in goede octrooibanen geleid. Sinds 2008 is hij aan EP&C verbonden als octrooigemachtigde.

Yme is een creatieve meedenker, een echte teamplayer die streeft naar een langdurige relatie met de cliënt. Hij heeft een scherp oog voor details, maar houdt het einddoel altijd in zicht. “Vaak heeft een cliënt alleen nog maar een idee dat hij wil beschermen. Hij ziet één element, de gemachtigde het totaalplaatje van product, concurrentie en markt. Door samen met de uitvinder te kijken waar praktische, commerciële en juridische kansen liggen, wordt het product beter. En de bescherming succesvoller. Een idee wordt dan echt een uitvinding.”

Career:

Yme Groeneveld studied mechanical engineering at the Delft University of Technology and has been working in the field of patents since 1991. His achievements include guiding the Senseo case towards a successful conclusion. Since 2008 he has been employed as a patent attorney at EP&C.

Yme is a creative thinker, a real team player who strives to establish long-term relationships with clients. He has an eye for detail, but remains focused on the goal. He explains, “The client often comes up with an idea which they want to protect. They only see one element; while an attorney focuses on the complete picture from the product in relation to the competition and the market. By assessing the practical, commercial and legal opportunities, we can create a better product in co-operation with the inventor and provide better protection. Only then can the idea truly be turned into an invention.”
