Walter Hart, M.Sc. Dutch and European Patent Attorney EP&C - Amsterdam

Walter Hart studeerde civiele techniek in Delft, en is sinds 2002 aan EP&C verbonden als octrooigemachtigde. Daarvoor werkte hij bij een civieltechnisch bedrijf (Fugro), en als consultant in de ICT (CMG). Walter is actief betrokken bij de stichting Nieuwe Bedrijvigheid Amsterdam en Omstreken. Hij slaagde in 2005 cum laude voor het Nederlands Octrooigemachtigde examen.

Walter is analytisch, ondernemend, vindingrijk en gedreven. “Het verkrijgen van een octrooi is op zichzelf niet zo moeilijk. Maar het is de kunst om een nuttig en effectief octrooi te vestigen. Als gemachtigde moet je daarom zowel een scherp jurist als een uitstekend techneut zijn. Het uitvinden is mij met de paplepel ingegoten, en daarom begrijp ik als geen ander de onzekerheden van mijn cliënten wanneer ze met hun idee naar mij toe komen. Ze gaan dan door een spannende fase, en zetten alles op alles om er een succes van te maken. Het geeft een kick om daarbij te kunnen helpen.” In zijn vrije tijd werkt Walter Hart aan een zeil-project om het wereldrecord speedzeilen aan te vallen.

Career:

Walter Hart studied civil engineering in Delft, the Netherlands, and has been a patent attorney with EP&C since 2002. Previously he worked for a civil engineering company (Fugro) and as an ICT consultant (CMG). Walter is actively involved in the New Business Foundation of the Amsterdam District.
He passed the Dutch Patent Exam cum laude in 2005.

Walter is analytical, enterprising, inventive and passionate. “On its own, obtaining a patent is not all that difficult. The art is creating a useful and effective patent. As a patent attorney you have to therefore be both a shrewd jurist and an excellent scientist. And since I took in inventing with my mother’s milk, more than anybody else I understand the insecurities of my clients when they come to me with their idea. They go through an exciting phase, doing everything in their power to make it a success. I get a kick out of being able to help them.” In his free time Walter Hart is developing a speed-sailing vessel for attacking the world speed sailing record.
