René Raggers, Ph.D. Dutch and European Patent Attorney EP&C - Utrecht

René Raggers studeerde moleculaire biologie in Groningen, heeft gewerkt op de ETH in Zurich, Zwitserland en promoveerde op celbiologisch kankeronderzoek aan het AMC in Amsterdam. Daarnaast heeft hij zijn studie bedrijfskunde afgerond. Sinds 2005 is hij werkzaam bij EP&C. Daarvoor was hij in de levensmiddelenindustrie verantwoordelijk voor de wetenschappelijke innovatie in productontwikkeling.

René is vasthoudend, diplomatiek, vrolijk en snel. “Als gemachtigde kruip je vaak in de huid van je cliënt. Mijn werk moet voor hem nuttig en effectief zijn, niet alleen bij het aanvragen en handhaven van octrooirechten, maar ook bij problemen met de octrooirechten van anderen. Voor een optimale bescherming van de rechten van mijn opdrachtgever, haal ik daarom alles uit de kast.”

Career:

René Raggers studied molecular biology in Groningen, worked at the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland and obtained his doctorate with a thesis on cell biology research on cancer at the Amsterdam Medical Center. He also majored in business administration. René has been with EP&C since 1995. Previously, he was responsible for scientific innovation in product development in the food industry.

René is tenacious, diplomatic, cheerful and quick. “As an attorney you have to be able to think along with your client. My work has to be useful and effective for my client, not only when applying for patent-rights, or enforcing patent-right, but also in case of problems with the patent-right of others. I will do whatever it takes to optimally protect my client’s rights.”
