Johan Volmer studeerde chemische technologie in Eindhoven, en is sinds 1993 aan EP&C verbonden als octrooigemachtigde. Daarvoor werkte hij als ingenieur-voorbereider bij het OCN (Octrooicentrum Nederland). Hij is plaatsvervangend lid van de Raad van Toezicht van de Orde van Octrooigemachtigden. En als tutor aan de Beroepsopleiding voor octrooigemachtigden bereidt hij zijn studenten voor op het examen Praktische Vaardigheden.

Johan is rustig, betrouwbaar, meedenkend en oplossingsgericht. “Ik bouw altijd aan een goede relatie met mijn cliënten. Intensief contact is belangrijk. Je moet je als gemachtigde nu eenmaal goed in je cliënt kunnen verplaatsen. Maar je moet ook zelfstandig, onafhankelijk en origineel blijven denken, en iedere zaak van alle kanten durven bekijken. Zodat je de juiste conclusies kunt trekken. In samenwerking met je cliënt moet moet je uiteindelijk de beste oplossing bereiken.”

Career:

Johan Volmer studied chemical engineering in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and has been a patent attorney with EP&C since 1993. He previously worked as an engineer-examiner at the OCN (Netherlands Patent Office). He is currently an acting member of the Institute of Patent Attorneys’ Supervisory Board, as well as a tutor at the professional training institute for patent attorneys, where he prepares students for their Practical Skills examinations.

Johan is calm, reliable, a team player and solution-driven. “I always establish a good relationship with my clients. It is important to maintain intensive contact. As a patent attorney you simply must be able to put yourself in your client’s position. At the same time, you also have to continue to think in an autonomous, independent and original way and to look at each case from all sides to make the right conclusion. After all, in cooperation with your client you have to achieve the best solution.”
