Jan-Paul de Hoog studeerde Scheikunde in Utrecht en is sinds 2008 aan EP&C verbonden als octrooigemachtigde. Daarvoor deed hij promotieonderzoek en was hij productspecialist bij een fabrikant van fysische meetinstrumenten.

Jan-Paul is analytisch ingesteld, heeft een verregaande interesse op allerlei gebieden en is niet snel op de kast te krijgen. Hij is rustig, kritisch en betrouwbaar en bouwt graag aan een goede band met zijn cliënt.

“Gemachtigden behouden voor de cliënt het overzicht en denken toch mee tot in de kleinste details. Door vragen te stellen, brengen wij uitvinders vaak op andere gedachten. Zij zitten zo diep in het ontwikkelproces dat tunnelvisie dreigt. Omdat wij uitvindingen vanuit alle denkbare zijwegen bekijken, ontstaat er uiteindelijk een product dat technisch, juridisch, strategisch en bedrijfskundig klopt.”

Career:

Jan-Paul de Hoog studied Chemistry at Utrecht and has been connected to EP&C as a patent agent since 2008. Prior to this he did doctoral research and was product specialist at a manufacturer of physical measuring instruments.

Jan-Paul is analytically minded, has a broad interest in all sorts of fields and is not easily provoked. He is calm, critical and reliable and is keen to build a good alliance with his customer.

“Patent attorneys maintain the overall picture for the client and think with them, right down to the smallest details. By asking questions, we often put new ideas into inventors’ heads. They are so engrossed in the development process that there is the danger of tunnel vision. Because we consider inventions from all conceivable perspectives, ultimately a product comes into being that is right technically, legally, strategically and in terms of management.”
