Erik Nijs, M.Sc. Dutch and European Patent Attorney EP&C - Rijswijk

Erik Nijs studeerde Lucht- en Ruimtevaarttechniek aan de TU Delft en is sinds 2009 aan EP&C verbonden als octrooigemachtigde. Na zijn studie heeft hij een jaar gewerkt bij ESA (Europese ruimtevaartorganisatie) en vanaf 2000 is hij werkzaam in de octrooipraktijk. Daarnaast helpt hij aankomende octrooigemachtigden bij hun voorbereiding op de Europese examens bij het CEIPI in Straatsburg. Erik kan bogen op jarenlange octrooi-ervaring. Hij is zeer betrokken bij de cliënt en vindt intensief contact belangrijk.

"Het proces van octrooiverlening kan jaren duren. Ondertussen gaan de technische ontwikkelingen verder en veranderen de commerciële belangen. Om goed op de hoogte te blijven van wat de cliënt doet, heb ik vaak overleg. Zo kunnen we samen steeds opnieuw afwegen wat de beste keuze is. En als je elkaar goed kent, dan heb je als gemachtigde op een gegeven moment aan een half woord genoeg.”

Career:

Erik Nijs has studied Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology, and he has worked as a patent attorney for EP&C since 2009. After graduation, he spent one year at the European Space Agency (ESA). Erik started working in the field of patents in 2000. He is also a tutor for CEIPI in Strasbourg to help trainee patent attorneys with their preparations for their European Qualifying Examinations. Erik is able to pride himself on many years of patent experience. He is highly committed to his clients.
